This year the motto of the traditional event is: “Let us sing of peace and joy.” “Against the background of the current wars and crises in the world, we want to invite you to rediscover Christmas as a festival of peace and hope while singing together,” says Siegmar Müller, representative of the Working Group of Christian Churches and initiator of Christmas singing since 2013 the Tivoli. This will be made clear again this year by the reading of the Christmas story, the entrance of the Peace Light from Bethlehem and the participation of the star singers.
Mayor Sibylle Keupen has taken over the patronage and will give a welcoming speech. The city of Aachen, especially the city's subsidiary ASB as the Tivoli operator, actively supports Christmas singing. Another partner is the student initiative “Second Light”, which collects leftover candles after the event and has them recycled.
Over 25.000 visitors are expected at the Tivoli. As in the previous year, the program with festive Christmas carols and Alemannia fan songs will be accompanied by the Hahn Music Association. Pius Celebration and the Gospelhaus Choir will also be there again. For the first time, the children's choir of the Christ Church in Haaren will be taking part under the direction of Michael Krinner. The actors on stage and the audience are once again supported vocally by amateur choirs that are spread out in the stands. In addition, singer legend Jupp Ebert contributes to the special atmosphere at the Tivoli with the Alemannia anthem. The moderation will be shared by Pastor Monica Schreiber and stadium announcer Robert Moonen. Volunteers distribute candles and songbooks free of charge to all visitors.
