Representative study shows stable willingness to donate and potential for increasing donations
Aachen, October 08.04.2020nd, XNUMX. Germans want to continue to donate or even more than before in the Corona crisis. This was the result of a representative survey of more than 1.000 participants who took the Fundraising agency GRÜN alpha jointly commissioned with three other agencies.
A little more than half of the respondents stated that they would continue to donate; 17% of those questioned even want to donate more than before. Only around 5% of Germans want to donate less than usual in the current crisis. In fact, as many as 3% of people said they wanted to donate for the first time, which would correspond to around 2 million new first-time donors in the German donation market.
The personal willingness to do voluntary work has grown in a similar way.
Only around a fifth of those surveyed stated that they neither made donations before the crisis nor now, nor did they volunteer.
Almost 60% stated that they would remain loyal to the previous organizations with their donations, with 17,5% also wanting to donate in the health sector.
"A good signal for all non-profits to continue investing in existing donor relationships, but also in new acquisitions," said Joachim Sina, managing director of the agency GRÜN alpha. "Donation organizations and associations can rely on people's willingness to donate even in times of crisis."
In fact, there is even potential for increasing donations, as not a few donors want to give more than before and the crisis is also motivating people who have not donated before.
The study was carried out on behalf of the following agencies (list in alphabetical order):
- Conversio Institute
- Fundango GmbH
- GRÜN alpha GmbH
