The Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernization (BMDS) has assumed patronage of the quality seal “Software Made in Germany" of Federal Association IT-Mittelstand eV (BITMi) has been adopted. This gives the initiative political support at the federal level.
Federal Digital Minister Dr. Karsten Wildberger stated: “The ‘Software Made in Germany’ initiative supports the BMDS’s goal of advancing Germany’s digital sovereignty. The label makes the origin of software products transparent at first glance and strengthens the domestic digital industry. Germany’s digital future will be significantly shaped by small and medium-sized IT companies.”
Oliver Grün, PhD., President of BITMi and CEO of GRÜN Software Group GmbH, emphasized the importance of German software manufacturers for digital sovereignty at the launch event: “The current political situation clearly demonstrates how crucial targeted support for German software manufacturers is. They are the key to our digital sovereignty. We are therefore all the more pleased that the Ministry for Digital Affairs is supporting our ‘Software Made in Germany’ initiative.”
